Raw Xocolat

Our story

From a pharmacy path to a chocolate factory.

Raw Xocolat is Brownsville’s first bean-to-bar chocolate factory — and it started at a farmers-market table.

The founder

Jesus Bojorquez, Brownsville native.

After serving in the U.S. Army, Jesus was studying biomedical science with pharmacy school as the plan. He was already making Mexican abuelita chocolate and selling it at area farmers markets.

Chocolate won. He was one of the winners of the Brownsville Community Improvement Corporation’s StartUp Texas Pitch Summit, and in May 2021 he opened the shop on Morrison Road.

The name keeps the first plan in it: RX, the prescription sign, and Xocolat, from the old spelling of chocolate.

Origins
